Your recordings stay on your iPhone

Stintmark is a track-day logbook developed by Qingzhi Yang. The app has no account system, advertising or third-party analytics SDK. It stores your recordings and vehicle records locally. Older builds do not automatically upload recordings. Builds that offer “Help improve Stintmark” can submit new recordings only after your separate agreement. The option is off by default.

What the app uses and stores

You can set up location permission during first launch, or when you first open Drive. While Drive is open, the app uses location to check GPS readiness. After you start a stint, it records location, speed, direction, accuracy estimates and timestamps, together with device acceleration, attitude and angular rate. These support lap timing, route and vehicle-load analysis. It also stores the car, tire, brake, fluid, notes and optional expected-life information you enter.

Background location is enabled during active recording and disabled when recording ends. Motion samples are requested at approximately 50 Hz; actual delivery depends on the device. You can change location and motion permissions in iOS Settings. Without the relevant permission, the corresponding functions may be unavailable.

Storage and backups

Unless you enable optional developer contributions, Stintmark does not automatically transmit these records to the developer. iOS may include app data in your device backups according to your Apple and backup settings. Those backups are managed by Apple or by the backup destination you choose.

Sharing and support

You can export a stint using the iOS share sheet. Recordings can contain precise routes and timestamps, so review the recipient before sharing. The destination app or service handles the exported copy under its own policies.

If you voluntarily send a recording, screenshot or message to us, we use it to respond to your request, investigate issues and improve Stintmark. We retain that correspondence and supplied material only as needed for those purposes. Contact us to request deletion of material you have sent. This does not delete copies you sent to other recipients.

Optional developer contributions

If your build offers data sharing, it is off by default. If it says sharing is unavailable, nothing is queued or uploaded. Installing an update will not opt you in automatically. Builds before 0.23.0 have no automatic contribution feature.

A separate “Help improve Stintmark” choice explains the submission and asks for your agreement. Sensor permission is separate from data-sharing consent. Declining sharing does not restrict Garage, recording, analysis or export.

With your agreement, only new, successfully saved stints recorded while that agreement remains active are eligible. Submissions contain precise GPS coordinates, speed, heading, accuracy, relative sample times, raw acceleration, attitude and angular rate, lap results, recorded duration/distance, app version, operating-system version and device model. The copy excludes vehicle names, notes, original session/vehicle/installation IDs and calendar dates. Precise routes may still identify you; these submissions are not claimed to be anonymous.

Submissions are for investigating recording problems and improving timing and motion algorithms. They are not for advertising, sale or cross-app tracking. Uploads use an available Wi-Fi or cellular connection after recording stops; Low Data Mode pauses transfer. Uploads do not replace your local originals. Submissions travel directly over HTTPS to a developer-operated Synology NAS in the United States. Sensor files are stored in a private directory that is not mounted into the public website container. Request access logging is disabled. Standard network providers may still process connection information needed to deliver Internet traffic. We do not use connection information for advertising.

You can turn sharing off in Privacy & permissions. Pending transfers are cancelled; a request already received by the server may require deletion. “Delete submitted data” requests deletion of submissions associated with receipts on this device when a network connection is available. Local originals remain. Sensor packages are scheduled for deletion after 30 days. If the receiving NAS is offline, cleanup runs when it restarts before accepting uploads; deletion requests likewise wait for connectivity. A non-content deletion receipt may remain for a further 30 days to prevent a delayed retry from recreating a deleted upload. If you remove the app or lose its receipts, contact support; we may need your submission receipt to locate a copy.

TestFlight

If you install a beta through TestFlight, Apple operates its distribution, beta feedback and crash-reporting services. Apple may provide beta feedback and diagnostic information to the developer through TestFlight. This is separate from Stintmark's local recording storage and is governed by Apple's TestFlight terms and privacy information.

Your controls

You can delete recordings using the app's confirmed deletion actions. Abandon today permanently deletes the selected car's recordings for that day. Removing a component from the car can preserve its history; deleting the component and history is a separate action. Deleting the app removes its local data. Exported copies and device backups must be managed at their respective destinations.

Tracking and children

Stintmark does not use advertising identifiers, track you across other companies' apps or websites, or sell your information. It is not directed at children.

This website

This page contains no analytics scripts, advertising or forms. Its hosting provider may process standard connection information to deliver and secure the page. Clicking the email link opens your chosen email application.

Changes

If Stintmark's data practices change, this policy will be updated before the changed functionality is released. The date above identifies the current policy.
